Duomo and Battistero

Duomo and Battistero of Parma

The Romanesque art of the sacred monuments of the city.

Duomo and Battistero di Parma are located in the homonymous Piazza Duomo, a charming place in the heart of parma but outside the marasma city, where in addition to these two magnificent monuments there is also the Vescovile Palace, now also home to the Diocesan Museum.

The Cathedral, Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, boasts a dome completely frescoed by Correggio, who in Parma also painted the Monastery of San Giovanni.

Next to this imposing monument stands the Baptistery, an octagonal building made of pink marble, dedicated to the baptismal rite commissioned to Benedetto Antelami at the end of the twelfth century.

Only in this Piazza, perfectly preserved, are told over a thousand years of history of the city, and it is from here that your visit to Parma must necessarily start.
